Work with Issues

Handle Jira work right from Discord. Notification cards can include action buttons so you can assign, comment, or move status without leaving chat.

What actions are available?

Jira Software projects

  • πŸ’¬ Add comment β€” post a regular Jira comment
  • πŸ™‹ Assign to me β€” take ownership
  • πŸ”„ Change status β€” transition to an allowed status

Jira Service Management projects

  • πŸ—¨οΈ Reply to customer β€” public reply (sent to the requester)
  • πŸ’¬ Add internal comment β€” internal note (not visible to requester)
  • πŸ™‹ Assign to me β€” take ownership
  • πŸ”„ Change status β€” transition to an allowed status

How to enable quick actions

In a notification rule, open the Quick Actions section and pick which buttons to show for issue and comment notifications. See Configure Notifications.

Permissions

  • Actions run under the identity of the connected Jira user who clicks the button.
  • Users need the usual Jira permissions for the action, for example:
    • Assign: Assign Issues
    • Comment/Reply: Add Comments (and Service Desk comment permissions)
    • Change status: Transition Issues

πŸ”’ Heads up: If a user lacks permissions or a transition isn’t valid for the issue, the button will show an error.

Troubleshooting

  • Buttons missing? Ensure the rule has Quick Actions enabled.
  • Transition not listed? That status transition isn’t available from the current issue state.
  • Reply vs Internal comment? Use the Service Management-specific buttons accordingly.
