Welcome to the Discord for Jira User Guide! If your admin has already set things up, you’re ready to connect your account and start using Jira directly from Discord. Let’s get you connected and explore what’s possible.

🔗 Connect Your Discord Account (Takes 30 seconds!)

To unlock all the features, start by connecting your Discord account to Jira:

  1. Head over to Jira and click your avatar in the top-right corner.
  2. Choose Discord from the dropdown menu.
  3. On the Personal Settings page, you’ll see the Connect Your Discord Account section.

  1. Click the Log in button. Discord will pop up, asking for quick authorization.
  2. Click Authorize, and you’re connected!

Once connected, you’ll see both your Atlassian and Discord accounts displayed as “Connected”:

💡 Quick fact: If you’ve previously connected a Discord server to your Jira site, then your Atlassian account might already be automatically connected to Discord!

🤖 Quick Tip: Need to switch Discord accounts? No worries - just click Disconnect Accounts to start fresh.

With your account connected, here’s what you can start using (note: some features require admin setup for your Discord server or Jira project):

  • Get real-time Jira updates right in your Discord channels.
  • Mention Jira issues (e.g., PROJECT-123) and get instant previews - no links required!
  • Create Jira issues directly in Discord with easy slash commands (/create).
  • Search Jira issues quickly in Discord using the /search command.
  • File Support Tickets without leaving Discord (if your server has this enabled).
  • Receive personal notifications via direct message - never miss a Jira mention again!
  • Discuss Jira issues in threads directly from the issue page in Jira.

💬 Using Jira Issue Keys in Chat

Ever needed to discuss a Jira ticket but dread pasting endless links? Just mention the issue key (like ABC-123) anywhere in Discord. Jiri bot will jump in with the issue details - easy, right?

🎫 Creating Issues and Support Tickets

Create Jira Issues: Type /create and follow the prompts to create issues directly from Discord.

Submit Support Tickets: If your server has support enabled, simply click a Ticket Panel button or type /ticket in Discord. Boom! 🎆 Jira ticket created without leaving your comfy chat window.

🗣️ Discuss Issues in Discord Threads

From any Jira issue, click Discuss in Discord, select your server/channel, and start chatting! Messages sync between Discord and Jira automatically.

🔔 Personal Notifications: Stay in the Loop

Since you’ve connected your Discord account, you can now receive direct Discord messages for important Jira updates when someone mentions you or updates your favorite issues.
